Three Held on Murder Charges in Co Down

Three individuals remain in custody on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Co Down.

Mark Dorrian, 50, was discovered unconscious in a Newtownards flat shortly before 2am yesterday. He had sustained multiple injuries, including head trauma, and was transported to the hospital where he passed away shortly after.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place soon.

Two women, aged 58 and 33, were arrested at the scene on West Street. A 36-year-old man was apprehended at a nearby location. All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness stated that the suspects remain in police custody, with detectives receiving a 36-hour extension to continue questioning them.

In a statement, Mr. McGuinness encouraged witnesses to come forward, emphasizing that any information could be crucial to their murder investigation.

“My thoughts are primarily with Mark’s friends and family at this time,” he said.

“Our investigation is still in its early stages, and inquiries are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”

He urged anyone with information, regardless of how insignificant it might seem, to contact detectives on 101. Reports can also be made through the online reporting form on the PSNI website or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
