Mohamed Salah Hints at Liverpool Exit After Explosive Interview

Mohamed Salah has delivered his most dramatic public comments yet about his situation at Liverpool, admitting he feels abandoned by the club and disconnected from manager Arne Slot. In a striking post-match interview, the 33-year-old hinted that next week’s fixture against Brighton could be his final game at Anfield before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Egyptian forward, a central figure in Liverpool’s modern success since his 2017 arrival from Roma, expressed disbelief at being named a substitute for the third consecutive match. Despite being one of the Premier League’s most decorated players and having won both domestic and European honours with the club, Salah now finds himself questioning his standing within the squad.

Breakdown With Slot and Growing Frustration

Salah has endured a difficult season by his standards, following a campaign in which he collected numerous individual awards. Slot’s recent decision to bench him again — this time during a 3-3 draw with Leeds — prompted the forward to openly challenge how he has been treated.

In a seven-minute interview, he described the experience as “unbelievable,” stressing that being left out for the full 90 minutes was unprecedented in his career. He suggested the club had scapegoated him, indicating that promises made to him in the summer have not been honoured. The winger added that he feels as though someone at the club “wants him to take all the blame,” amplifying long-rumored internal tensions.

Salah also revealed a complete collapse in communication with Slot, saying a once-strong relationship “no longer exists.” Despite repeatedly praising Liverpool in the past, he now believes individuals behind the scenes are attempting to push him out.

Preparing for a Possible Goodbye

Salah shared that he has already told his family to attend the upcoming Brighton game, describing it as an occasion he intends to “enjoy” because he does not know what the future holds. With his Africa Cup of Nations duties beginning on 15 December, he said he might use the match as a farewell moment to Liverpool supporters.

The forward spoke emotionally about the uncertainty he faces daily, explaining that arriving at the training ground without knowing whether he will start is deeply unsettling. He emphasized that after years of service and consistency, he expected more support and protection from the club.

Respect, Reputation and What Comes Next

Salah argued that a player of his contribution should not have to repeatedly “fight for his position,” insisting he had earned his status through performance — not ego. He described the treatment he has received as disrespectful, adding that he should not be forced to defend himself publicly when he has given so much to Liverpool.

He acknowledged the situation “absolutely hurts,” particularly because he has never had problems with teammates. The issue, he clarified, lies with “people higher up,” including the manager. Asked about reported interest from Saudi Arabia, Salah avoided the topic, saying the club would “take it the wrong way” if he commented.

When questioned about whether he regretted signing his most recent contract, Salah laughed, saying even being asked that question shows how troubling the situation has become.
